Sand Creek Branch is renovating and expanding!
The Sand Creek Branch will be closing its doors on October 1, beginning a four month facelift. It is expected to reopen with full services in February 2009. You can follow the progress of the renovation on Branch Manager Sid Stanfill's construction blog at http://sandcreekconstruction.blogspot.com
Beginning October 6, the branch will reopen for four hours each day with limited services. Patrons will be able to pick up holds, use a computer, and access a small collection of new and audio/visual materials. The entrance to the temporary location will be 60 feet south of the front door.
The hours during renovation will be:
- Mon. - Tues.: 4 - 8 p.m.
- Wed. - Sat.: 2 - 6 p.m.
- Sun.: 1 - 5 p.m.
Currently:
- 10,000 square feet
- 16 public computers are reserved 5,000 times a month.
- The Branch circulated 450,000 items a year.
- In an average month 25,000 patrons visit this branch library - the highest visitor count of the branches.
After the remodel:
- 40% more space
- Nearly twice as many public computers
- Laptops for in-Library use
- Quiet reading space
- Teen area with computers
- More study rooms
- Drive-up book drop and a hold pick-up window
- Expanded and enhanced children's reading area
