New name and logo for the Komen Foundation

To celebrate its 25th year, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has made some updates to most notably their name and logo. The nonprofit organization is now known as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and with a new logo, the organization is heading into 2007 with a new advertising campaign, a revamped website, and www.25komen.org, which allows people to create an online network of friends and family to raise awareness of breast cancer.

Sister Study Recruiting Participants

The Sister Study, which is being conducted by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences of the National Institutes of Health, is recruiting participants for the only long-term study of women aged 35-74 whose sister had breast cancer.
The purpose of this national study is to learn how environment and genes affect the chances of getting breast cancer. Currently almost 35,000 women are enrolled in the study, with a goal of having 50,000 women enrolled by the end of 2007. This wide reaching study incorporates women of different generations and from various racial and ethnic groups and geographic regions of the United States and Puerto Rico.
