Guitar Hero Competition for Teens!
Thursday, February 19, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Teens in grades 6 – 12: get some practice in over Presidents’ Day and then come to the Briargate Branch for the competition! Who will be the last guitar player? Maybe it will be you! Space is very limited, so register early. You must register ahead of time, either online or by calling 260-6882
The Mother Daughter Book Club will meet from 10 – 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month in East Library Conference Room 1. The club is open to girls in grades 6 – 9 and their mothers, who will discuss each month’s books. January’s titles are Am I Right or Am I Right? by Berry Jonsberg and Life on the Refrigerator Door: Notes Between a Mother and Daughter by Alice Kuipers. No registration is required. The Library and the Colorado Springs World Affairs Council invite you to presentations featuring world class presenters speaking on global issues. This month, Stephen Kinzer will discuss “Rwanda Genocide and the Aftermath.” These presentations are offered free to young people ages 14-18 in the East Teen Center at East Library. They include breakfast and a chance for teens to interact with superb speakers brought to the area by the World Affairs Council. The programs will also be simulcast on The Library Channel, Comcast 17, and instant messaging with a teen librarian and the speaker will be available at ppld.org/teens.
