Photoshop Elements

In this class you will learn some basic editing functions of Photoshop Elements. You will work with layers, become familiar with cropping and red-eye removal, and use some tricks and techniques to enhance the look of your photos.

C³ Center for Public Media Studio Orientation Class

Interested in using Library 21c’s innovative C³ Center for Public Media? Whether you’re creating your first masterpiece or are a seasoned professional, this audio/video space offers the equipment and resources to produce original content for television, radio and the web. The Orientation course guides patrons through studio policies and procedures, and is the first step toward using the facility for independent projects.

This course is required training to use the C³ Center for Public Media. Attendees must be at least 9 years of age. Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.

Philip's Tai Chi Basics

Philip's Tai Chi Basics –A gentle and non-intimidating way to be introduced to the graceful movements of Tai Chi. Proper stances and postures are emphasized to improve balance, to strengthen leg muscles and to improve coordination. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Class is 45 minutes. This is a 12 week class and requires permission of the instructor.

Philip's Tai Chi 24-Form Beginner –Learn the gentle and graceful movements of the 24 –Form, also known as the “Beijing Short Form”. A fairly easy form to learn, it does not requires an excessive amount of daily practice. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Class is 45 minutes. This is a 12 week class and requires permission of the instructor. Prerequisite: Tai Chi Basics.

Philip's Tai Chi 24-Form Advanced

Philip's Tai Chi 24-Form Advanced–For the student who has completed the entire 24-Form, but wishes to continue in perfecting the form. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Class is 45 minutes. This is a 12 week class and requires permission of the instructor. Prerequisite: Tai Chi 24-Form Intermediate.

Introduction to Photo-Editing with GIMP

Interested in touching up some pictures, but can't afford the price tag for professional software like Photoshop or Corel? Not to worry! GIMP is a free downloadable software you can use at home to accomplish most of your photo-editing needs.

In this class, we'll teach you the basics of how to adjust the lighting in your pictures, crop out unnecessary parts, remove red-eye, edit the foreground and background elements, and more.

This class is for advanced computer users who are very comfortable with computer navigation and have experience using a variety of software including Microsoft Office products. Best suited for students 13+; Ages 9-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Word I Class

When: Saturday, February 13, 2016 - 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose Computer Lab

In this class you will become familiar with basic word processing skills necessary to create and save word documents by learning to read the Microsoft Word screen and entering and manipulating basic text.
Prerequisites: Completion of (55+) Computer Basics and experience using a mouse and keyboard

Microsoft Excel I Class

When: Tuesday, February 16, 2016 - 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM

Class description: Learn how to create, manipulate, and format a basic spreadsheet.

Laptop Lab

Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Library laptops are available for use in our downstairs meeting room. Library staff will be on hand either to assist with personal projects (class work, to job skills to Microsoft Office products, Facebook, Craigslist and more) or we can provide practice materials on computer basics. No registration required, but limited to first 10 attendees. Call the library for more information.
