MAKE @ East Open Hours

When: Saturday, October 01, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at EA Makerspace

During Open Hours MAKE @ East is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a trained PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis.

Please note that the embroidery machine will be unavailable September 30 and October 1.

Shabby Chic Boutique: Woodburning

Celebrate the start of fall by making a seasonal piece with our woodburning kit! Patrons must be at least 16 years of age to attend.

Scribes and Bards

A published fantasy writer will go through writing exercises with teens.

Maker in Residence: The Playful Pen

When: Sunday, October 02, 2016 - 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Subtract color and what do you have? Let's explore detail with fine-tipped pens. Let's venture into the realm of black and white. Open-themed, models provided, beginners welcome. Supplies provided.

Registration required. Patron must be 16 years or older to attend.

55+ Beginning Computer Class Series

When: Tuesday, October 04, 2016 - 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at East Computer Lab

Meeting for 2 class sessions, students in this class will cover a different topic each class related to basic computer skills (This class uses computers with the Windows 7 operating system).

Patron will be signing up for both classes.

Wednesday, October 5, 55+ Computer Basics Practice Lab 1-3 p.m.

Speak Spanish - Beginning

Students will learn the basics of pronunciation, sentence structure, and shortcuts to verb conjugation. No registration required.

Yoga@The Library

Join us for a free yoga class. Certified instructors will take you through a non-heated Vinyasa yoga flow class emphasizing basic poses, correct alignment, and breathing techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat/towel, blocks, and straps. No registration required.

Walk Wednesdays!

When: Wednesday, October 05, 2016 - All Day
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd.

Every other Wednesday we challenge you to walk a mile in the library - and you'll be able to stop at checkpoints to read a story. Everyone is invited to participate, but the walk will start in the East Teen Center. There, you will read the first part of the story and learn where to walk to next to read the next part. By the time you finish reading the story, you will have walked a mile!

Amateur Hour Painting Party!

It’s time for a painting party! Amateur artists are invited to experiment with watercolors and acrylics at this fun and informal program. We’ll supply the brushes, paint, and paper; just bring yourself and a friend!

Family Movie Night: The Jungle Book

Knitting Kninjas
