Manitou Teen Creative Writer's Group

Looking for support and feedback from other writer's? Do you want to explore new structures and techniques in your writing? Would you like to try writing some poetry or give memoir writing a shot? Drop in and play with a fun writing prompt, or bring something you are already working on! This group offers 12-18 year old writers a chance to grow as writers and help others do the same.

Teen Art Journals I

Come learn some basic art techniques as we create the first few pages of an art journal. This 3 part class will help you find ways to wake up that creative energy and express yourself with various mediums. Register online or at the library so we can make certain we have enough supplies for everyone!

The Mineral Springs & Geology of Manitou

Where: Manitou Springs Library at Heritage Center, 517 Manitou Ave

Dave Wolverton, former president of the Mineral Springs Foundation and geologist will talk about the mineral springs and the geology of Manitou Springs. He will tell us about efforts to preserve, protect and promote the mineral springs and our special geology that formed the springs.

Undercover Book Club

Join us for a lively book discussion and refreshments. The book club selection may be picked up at the library any time during the 30 days before the book club meets. New members are always welcome.

The CCC Biys of Colorado presented by Bill Jamerson

When: Wednesday, September 21, 2016 - 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: Manitou Springs Library at Heritage Center, 517 Manitou Ave

A music and storytelling program about the Civilian Conservation Corps presented by author and songwriter, Bill Jamerson. The CCC was a federal works program in 1933-1937 that brought 57,000, men ages 17-25 to Colorado. They built lived in our area and built roads to Williams Canyon, Mt. Herman and Woodland Park. They planted trees, restored water and grass for cattle and sheep, did erosion control, fought fires and much more, all for $1 a day. Bill Jamerson will dress in their uniform and sign the songs of the times. Mr. Jamerson has recorded several cds produced a film about the CCC that has appeared on PBS. Everyone is invited to this very entertaining program.

Water Quidditch! at Waterfest

When: Saturday, October 01, 2016 - 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Where: Manitou Springs Library at Lawn

Join us for a rousing game of Water Quidditch, played with water balloons and wet sponges! This event is part of Manitou Springs Waterfest. No experience necessary, we will train all potential team members and play the games! This is messy, so dress to get wet!

Watercolor Painting with Deb Ross

Artist Deb Ross will teach an introductory class in painting with watercolors. No experience necessary! Supplies will be provided by the library. Class size is limited and registration is required. Please register online at ppld.org under Programs/Events or call the library at 685-5206.
