Teens Talk Books

Do you love books? Come share your passion with other teens!

We'll have a different theme every month. Just read a book that fits with that theme and come and share it with us!

Snacks will be provided to participating teens.

Laptop Lab

Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Library laptops are available for use in our downstairs meeting room. Library staff will be on hand either to assist with personal projects (class work, to job skills to Microsoft Office products, Facebook, Craigslist and more) or we can provide practice materials on computer basics. No registration required, but limited to first 10 attendees. Call the library for more information.

APPR Teen Movie Project

When: Thursday, October 06, 2016 - 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Have you ever wanted to make your own movie? Here's your chance!

Teens will meet once per week to plan, film, and edit their film throughout September and October. Please see below for dates, times, and activities.

Week One - September 8
Time to meet the team! During this session, we'll introduce ourselves and begin to talk about the project. Discussion will include plot, filming locations, scripts, etc.

Week Two - September 15
Scripting and Blocking. Teens will develop a script for their project to assist in the filming process.

Week Three - September 22
Filming begins! Taking the ideas from the first session, we'll begin filming.

Week Four - September 29
Filming Continues.

Week Five - October 6
Last week of filming. We'll continue filming this week, getting our last shots in.

Week Six - October 13
Editing. Time to bring everything together with editing software. Teens will get the chance to edit their film and learn a little about the editing software available from PPLD.

Week Seven - October 20
Editing Continues.

Week Eight - October 27
Finishing Touches. Teens will finish polishing up their project and prepare for the premier!

PREMIER - October 29
Are you red carpet ready? Teens are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and bring their friends and family to watch the premier of their Halloween Movie Project!

Please note, any participating teens should plan to wear the same outfit for all filming days in order to maintain continuity.

Registration is required for this project.

Stitch-Wits

When: Monday, October 10, 2016 - 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

For all needle workers/stitchers who would like to stitch in community! Knitters, Crocheters, Quilt Pieceworkers, any needle art workers! We help each other out, talk about a variety of topics and have a monthly show and tell and a monthly program. Come check us out.

How to create the illusion of depth in your paintings-
Description: We will use a limited palette in acrylic paints to learn the skill of color mixing and how to create both depth and luminosity in your work. Warning-it may lead to wanting to paint even more!
The class will be for ages 16+ and for up to 12 people.

Trick or Treat! Family Fun

Join Denise Gard, as she creates a bubbling brew and tells some creepy Colorado tales! Sienna, Denise’s little Witchy-poo, is sure to amuse as she tries to escape from her duties and go trick or treating. Watch out, Joey loves playing tricks! This show is a treat for all ages! It's slightly scary, mostly funny, and full of DOG TRICKS!

Donuts and Westside Pioneer

Come every month, or just for the books you want to read. You are welcome to bring a snack or lunch as this group meets in the middle of the day.
