Audio Recording on the Cheap

When: Tuesday, June 19, 2018 - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: Library21c Studio at Studio21c

Audio Recording On the Cheap
In the past, it took a million-dollar studio, a massive, expensive mixing console, and dozens of expensive microphones to make quality recordings. The digital revolution has changed all that. These days, you can make great-sounding recordings in your home for just a few hundred bucks worth of gear, using the computer you probably already own. Join us in Studio 21c as we explore the world of capturing and mixing sound "on the cheap". We'll talk about the theory and evolution of the recording process, and we'll demonstrate how to make great-sounding, multi-track recordings with just a few, simple pieces of gear and free software. Our instructor will be Bob Lord, sound engineer with The Black Rose Acoustic Society.

Prerequisites: To get the most out of this class, you should have a basic understanding of audio and how to use software applications on either Windows or Mac computers. It'll also help if you have a basic understanding of the difference between analog and digital audio and how multi-track recordings have been traditionally made. That said, just about anyone with an interest in recording should get something out of this class.

Hello I am interested in getting to learn graphic design and videos editing.. I have a small business and am interested in doing videos for my website and social media Stires ... are there any classes accompanied to this ?

Good day and thank you for your question. In regards to video editing, we do have an excellent beginners program on Adobe Premiere. The next session will be on March 13th either from 9-noon or 6-9 p.m. To sign-up for this course simply go to PPLD.org/studio and click on the classes link. From there you can go to the desired course and time and click on that link. This will open up a registration form that you fill out. Once you submit you are in. As for graphic design, we do not have a specific class offering this however the library does have Lynda.com accounts available to those who live in the PPLD district and who have a valid library card. I highly recommend this online tool that is available to you through patrons library funded taxes. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me at Rclements@ppld.org. Best to you, Roland

Hello, My name is Victoria Castro Roybal and I will be attending the 21C Class on Wed., December 6th at 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Thank you, Victoria Castro Roybal

No Problem at all. We ask that you have a current PPLD card prior to utilizing the studio or checking out equipment. See you Wednesday, Roland
