Biography: 

I attended schools in Colorado Springs from 3rd grade through 12th, graduating from Harrison High School in 1972. I have written Colorado Women: A History, the first full length chronicle of the lives, roles, and contributions on women in Colorado, including those in the Pikes Peak Region.

Ms. Beaton gave a fantastic presentation entitled "Gail Murphy: Colorado's Rosie the Riveter" at the Northglenn United Methodist Church on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017. Her performance was so personal and informative and detailed that the audience felt they were in the presence of a dear friend simply chatting about her life in the 1940s. She answered questions without them being asked (and some that were asked at the end of her portrayal.) People were still talking days later about her program, the things they learned, and the memories it invoked. She has set the bar for future speakers wonderfully high. We can't thank her enough for bringing history to life in such an enjoyable way.
