Equipment & Badging

PPLD’s makerspaces and studios offer a wide range of tools, materials and equipment, allowing patrons to test the limits of their creativity and imaginations. Below is a comprehensive list of items available across the district for public use.

For site-specific equipment offerings, please explore the Makerspaces and Studios pages.

Badging allows patrons to utilize a machine independently at the three makerspace locations. Machine badgings take place either in a class setting, or through an online video badging process. Not all locations have all of the machines available for badging, and some locations require more staff supervision than others.

  • Class badging for the Laser Cutter/ Engravers takes place at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library. The Laser Cutter/ Engraver badging is honored at East Library, Library 21c, and Sand Creek Library.
  • Class badging for the Luzbot Taz 6 and Mini 3D printers take place at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library. Online badging is available for the Luzbot Taz 6 and Mini 3D printers. The Luzbot Taz 6 and Mini 3D printers are available at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library.
  • Badging for the CNC machine at Library 21c is available as an in person, one-on-one appointment with a Library 21c makerspace staff member.

Unfortunately, the library does not have a large format printer.

Is there a green screen at any of the library facilities?

I checked out the Sony ex - 1 for my wedding and when we took the sd card out - the files were so large it automatically broke it up into 5 different files with only 10-15 min on each file. It will not let me open any of the files in QuickTime, iMovie or final will allow me to open in vlc. Does anyone know how I can combine 3-4 of these files to have one final document? It saved as a mpeg QuickTime file in MP4 format but won't open in QuickTime. Someone please help me :) willing to bring in the sd card if I can get someone to help!!

Does the library rent projectors?

Hello, do you have the equipment needed to convert a vinyl album to digital? Thanks.

Hi Brian,

At Library 21c, we have a machine that converts vinyl records and tapes to a CD-R. You must bring in a blank CD-R to perform the conversion, and also keep in mind that the conversion must record the audio in real-time. That is, if your record is an hour long, expect your conversion process to take a little over an hour. The converter is available anytime we're open, and you can either drop in and use it, or call our Makerspace desk (531-6333, x6364) to reserve a session on the machine.

I would love one of these as well! Any plans on getting one since this post was posted a year ago?

Thank you for your interest in the makerspaces. At this time, we do not have plans to add a heat press. We will keep the request in mind for researching in the future.

Yes! Another vote for a heat press! Making t-shirts is a very popular hobby right now and it's done best with the heat press. They are cost prohibitive for most hobbyists

Hello, thank you for your interest in the makerspaces! We do not have a heat press as one of our offerings at this time.

This page should have direct links to the Badging pages for the 3D Printers . Also the instructional vidios are blocked by ththe 21C firewal so you can't self badge at the library.

Hi there. We are currently redesigning the C3 website and will have direct links at that time. We'll look into the blocked videos. Thank you for the suggestions.

I was in the 3D printing lab around the end of November 2017, and the library staff in there recommended a free to use 3D CAD software that also had tool-path software for the ShopBot built-in. I can't recall the name of the software.

i was wondering i know its not on the list of check outable items but would it be possible if i could check out the teleprompter for my school's a/v club

No we do not have a teleprompter for check out unfortunatly. We do have an in-house prompter but none for check-out just yet. Sorry for that, Roland

Hi! When you check out a camera, do any lenses come with it, and if so which ones for which cameras? Thanks!

Hello. I was wondering if the library has a dark room.

Thank you for your interest in our studio spaces. Unfortunately, the library does not have a dark room. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you.

Hello, thanks for contacting us about the badging process for using an Epilog Laser Engraver / Cutter. Class badging for the Laser Cutter / Engravers takes place at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library. The Laser Cutter / Engraver badging is honored at East Library, Library 21c, and Sand Creek Library. Registration is required to participate in a badging class. Please check our calendar for upcoming classes, using the keywords “laser cutter/engraver badging”.

I see the explanation above:

"Class badging for the Laser Cutter/ Engravers takes place at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library. The Laser Cutter/ Engraver badging is honored at East Library, Library 21c, and Sand Creek Library."

But I cannot find any place where there is a schedule of these classes, or who to call, or how to sign up.

Help please?

Thank you.
