PPLD’s makerspaces and studios offer a wide range of tools, materials and equipment, allowing patrons to test the limits of their creativity and imaginations. Below is a comprehensive list of items available across the district for public use.
For site-specific equipment offerings, please explore the Makerspaces and Studios pages.
BADGING
Badging allows patrons to utilize a machine independently at the three makerspace locations. Machine badgings take place either in a class setting, or through an online video badging process. Not all locations have all of the machines available for badging, and some locations require more staff supervision than others.
- Class badging for the Laser Cutter/ Engravers takes place at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library. The Laser Cutter/ Engraver badging is honored at East Library, Library 21c, and Sand Creek Library.
- Class badging for the Luzbot Taz 6 and Mini 3D printers take place at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library. Online badging is available for the Luzbot Taz 6 and Mini 3D printers. The Luzbot Taz 6 and Mini 3D printers are available at Library 21c and Sand Creek Library.
- Badging for the CNC machine at Library 21c is available as an in person, one-on-one appointment with a Library 21c makerspace staff member.

Vinyl Cutter
Which library is a vinyl cutter available? I’ve never used a vinyl cutter before, will there be someone available to help me? Is there any cost?

Thank you for contacting
Thank you for contacting Pikes Peak Library District about vinyl cutters! PPLD offers many vinyl machines to help you at different libraries.
Library 21c and East Library have the Cricut Explore Air™ Machine and Silhouette Cameo 3. Library 21c also has US Cutter Laser Point Vinyl Cutter 25”. Sand Creek Library also has the Silhouette Cameo. All libraries have the necessary tools to use the machine and have instruction sheets to help get you started. You are welcome to use the machine for free with your own materials. We do offer vinyl sheets for purchase if you need them. Staff members are available at each location to get you started with the machine.
For more information about available equipment in our Makerspaces, please see the following website that details equipment available at each location: https://ppld.org/creative-services/makerspaces

Laser cutting machine
I have lost my packet that was given to me at the badging class. Can you remind me the free website to create the image along with the clipart one?
Anonymous replied on Permalink
Hello,
Hello,
There are a few websites out there were you can find free images, including pinterest.com, commons.wikimedia.org, and images.google.com. If you would like to make your own images, there are free programs such as Inkscape and GIMP.

Sewing machine
Hello. Are the sewing machines available to check out or do I bring my materials there?
Jason replied on Permalink
Hello,
Hello,
We do not have any sewing machines to checkout, so you will need to bring your own materials. Additionally, some of the Makerspaces have a limited amount of thread, so you may wish you bring your own as well. We have bobbins for sale, however if you wish to bring your own, please make sure that they are compatible with Husqvarna sewing machines.
