Toddler Time

1 and 2-year-old children, with a favorite adult, enjoy rhymes, music and movement, and a few short books. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If your child might benefit from sensory accommodations such as fidgets or noise-reducing headphones, please request a Sensory Accommodations kit from the desk.

Toddler Time Guidelines

  • This is a special story time for just the two of you.
  • You are the key. We encourage parents to participate along with their child and to interact with the stories and fingerplays. Parents, you are your child’s first teacher. Children learn best mimicking. Please join in and show your child it’s fun!
  • Please put away all food and toys, and silence cell phones before we start.
  • Having a rough day? Step outside for a moment, or if need be, try again another day.
  • Most of all - ENJOY this special time with your child!
  • The program doesn’t end when you go home. Share the rhymes and activities you’ve learned this morning at bedtime, quiet time or anytime!

I am a working mother and I wish to participate in these programs. Is there anything like this in the afternoons other than what they have for the older children?

Thank you for your suggestion! We have traditionally scheduled toddler time for the morning, since most of our patrons indicate that their toddlers nap in the afternoon. Penrose and East libraries have an all-ages storytime at 10:30 on Saturdays that might work for you. Library 21c also has some Saturday programs that encompass the toddler age group. We will definitely keep your request in mind when planning future programs.

Thank you for your suggestion. We are always examining our programs to make sure that they meet the needs of our patrons. We will keep this in mind for future planning.

I agree with the comments above. I would love Saturday programs for those of us that work.

We're glad you are looking forward to visiting the library with your little one. We have increased our program offerings on Saturdays. East and Penrose Libraries have a Family Storytime at 10:30, Library 21c has Tumble Play, Baby Yoga, and Family Yoga, as well as Elementary Make and Legos for the elementary aged children. Sand Creek Library has a series of Family Place workshops starting on Saturday, April 21 geared for 0-3 with parent. We also have Family Fun programs at all of our locations. We look forward to seeing you!

I have twins and would love to go. They love stories and books. But it says it’s one to one. Any chance one mom with twins can join the story time?

Many twins attend our programs, so yes, please come!
