Edible "Weeds"

Before you plant your lettuce or spinach, consider what nature is already providing in abundance. Many of what our culture consider “weeds” are actually nutritiously superior foods to that which you purchase at the market. Learn the wild foods that grow without planting, watering, or weeding; and the best part: they're free!

Join Mike Essam as he teaches the virtues of some of these wild gems, from Amaranth to Purslane. We'll take a short walk and Mike will point out edible "weeds".

  • When: Sat., April 21 from 11 a.m. - noon
  • Where: Manitou Springs Congregational Church, 103 Pawnee Ave.
    (Free parking behind church)

I would not be able to attend this event on the 21st, but wondered if I could have Mike Essam's contact information to be notified if this class is offered again.

If you’d like to call the Manitou Springs Library (719-685-5206), we can get your contact information then we’ll contact Mr. Essam and he can call you.

would you be able to film and post this on youtube? I can't get transportation out there. Thanks

I’m sorry you’ll be unable to join us. I’m afraid we are not equipped to film and post the program online. However, keep an eye out on the PPLD website for upcoming programs. There may be another program similar to this one in the near future at a different location.
