PPLD, The MAC Partner on Repair Café

Repair Café

Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is teaming up with the Manitou Art Center (MAC) to present Repair Café, a neighborhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out.

At a Repair Café, attendees will find the tools and materials needed to repair their broken items, as well as knowledgeable volunteers to assist fixing their items. Repair Trainers will offer a diagnosis and suggested remedy for broken items, repairing items when possible, and otherwise explaining what parts you may need to obtain to complete the repair.

“The MAC is extremely happy to partner with PPLD in bringing the Repair Café to Manitou Springs and the Westside of Colorado Springs,” said Dustin Booth, MAC Studio Artist Manager. “The Repair Cafe concept is a strong, community-oriented model which reinforces skill sharing and fosters a supportive learning environment for anyone of any age. It is a progressive concept with very traditional roots. There is no end to the value of being able to reuse, repair and understand how to fix items that we use in our day to day lives.”

Repair Café will be held each month from February to November 2018. All community members are welcome to join in these free events to reduce waste and learn some new skills!
