Homeschool Game Day at the Park

When: Friday, August 26, 2016 - 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at George Fellows Park

Homeschool families are invited to meet up with other homeschool families for an OUTDOOR game day. Four-square, hula hoops, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, kick ball ... come prepared to PLAY! All ages are welcome. Teens are needed to help direct game play. Contact gsohns@ppld.org for more information. In case of rain or snow, Game Day will be cancelled, not rescheduled.
Park area is behind the East Library.

Weekly Chess 3-5

Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Western Window Bay

We'll have the chess boards set up, waiting for you and your friends to enjoy a casual game of chess. All ages welcome.

Friday Fun! Water Quidditch

When: Friday, August 26, 2016 - 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: Manitou Springs Library at Lawn

Join us on the lawn for a rousing game of after school Water Quidditch, played with water balloons and wet sponges! No experience necessary, we will train all potential team members. This is messy, so dress to get wet!

Finally Friday at Ruth Holley

When: Friday, August 26, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Ruth Holley Library - 685 North Murray Blvd. at Ruth Holley Meeting Room

Come join us for an after school adventure. We'll provide the supplies, you bring your imagination. Light snacks will be served.
Ages 7 through 12.

LEGO Build

When: Friday, August 26, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Show off your creativity with this family event.Please do not bring your own LEGOs and all masterpieces remain at the library. (However, donations are gladly accepted!) Join us on the fourth Friday of the month.

Anime Club

When: Friday, August 26, 2016 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Ent Conference Center

For teens ages 12-18 who are interested in Anime! Meet others who share your interest and watch a different title each meeting. Prizes, food, and more! No registration required.
Some animes are rated PG-13, anyone 12 years old should be accompanied by a teen 13-18.

Yo-Yo Club

Join yo-yo enthusiasts from the Colorado Springs area for an afternoon of learning new tricks!

All levels welcome. For ages 9 and up.

Sand Creek Chess Club

When: Monday, August 29, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Sand Creek Library - 1821 South Academy Blvd. at Sand Creek Meeting Room

Join us for an hour (or more?!) of fun and games playing chess! Enjoy a game of strategy and cunning with this chess club for players of all experience levels. Compete again friends (new or old) or come beat the pants off the Sand Creek Staff. Refreshments provided!

Teen gaming day

When: Tuesday, August 30, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Fountain Library - 230 S. Main Street at Fountain Meeting Room

Gaming day.....Teens come and hang out, play a few games. Use the laptops. The Xbox 360 and Wii will be available.

Teen Movie: The 5th Wave (PG-13)

When: Tuesday, August 30, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Tag

Come enjoy a free movie in TAG! We'll be watching "The 5th Wave" which is rated PG-13. No registration required. For ages 12-18 only! For PG-13 movies, 12-year-olds must be accompanied by someone 13 – 18.

Movie starts at 4:00p.m., and is 1 hour and 52 minutes.

Mother/Daughter Book Club

When: Tuesday, August 30, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at East Childrens Story Room

For girls ages 9-12 and their mothers/mother figures. Registration is required and limited to 10 pairs (a mother with two daughters in this age range is still considered a "pair"). To register, call 531-6333 x1408.

Teen Dungeons and Dragons Club

When: Tuesday, August 30, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at East Teen Center (ETC) A & B

Join teens who are passionate about Dungeons and Dragons!

Program is for ages 12-18. Space is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required.

Teen Arts and Crafts Open Studio

When: Wednesday, August 31, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Monument Library - 1706 Lake Woodmoor Drive at Monument Meeting Room

Hey Teens! On the last Wednesday of each month, come use our Meeting Room as a space to create! Supplies will be provided as available; however, feel free to bring whatever materials you are currently working with and use the space.

Teens on Laptops

When: Wednesday, August 31, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Laptops are set aside for teen use only in the Community Room. Come on down and do homework, play games and music, or just surf! Occasionally we will have the Wii, crafts, or other special activities. Brought to you by OC3, our teen advisory council.

COSPLAY Cancel school started

When: Wednesday, August 31, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Fountain Library - 230 S. Main Street at Fountain Meeting Room

Learn how to do costumes with little or no money! Our goal is to create a group to exchange ideas, art, and experiences with everybody that loves cosplay, comic-con, etc. We will also learn how to create masks, pins, and small items with 3-D printing.

TEEN Book-to-Movie Showing: The 5th Wave

When: Wednesday, August 31, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: Cheyenne Mountain Library - 1785 S. 8th Street Suite 100 at Cheyenne Meeting Room

If you've read the book, then come watch the movie! If you haven't read the book, come anyway! Feel free to discuss the differences as you watch and/or afterward. Popcorn will be provided.

Paws to Read

Manitou Teen Creative Writer's Group

Where: Manitou Springs Library at Lower Level

Looking for support and feedback from other writer's? Do you want to explore new structures and techniques in your writing? Would you like to try writing some poetry or give memoir writing a shot? Drop in and play with a fun writing prompt, or bring something you are already working on! This group offers 12-18 year old writers a chance to grow as writers and help others do the same.

All Pikes Peak Reads: Career Conversations Medical Field

Professionals from different career fields break it down for teens in a panel discussion that explores the ups and downs of their occupations. Each month will feature a different career path group. September explores professionals working in the medical field. Registration Required.

Tween Twist Thursday: Rainbow Scratch Paper Art

Penrose Teen Advisory Board

Need volunteer hours for school? Want your voice to be heard? Join our Teen Advisory Board at Penrose Library and help us plan the events that happen at your library!

Must fill out a Teen Volunteer Application to get volunteer hours. Ages 12-18 only.

Teen Tabletop Gaming Club

Love playing board games? Want to try out new games each month and meet other teens interested in board games? Come to the Teen TableTop Gaming Club at Library 21c.

We meet the first Friday of the month from 4 - 5:30 p.m. in the teen area. Each month we learn and play a different game (and sometimes get out old favorites as well!). Drop by and maybe you'll discover your new favorite game! For ages 12-18. Co-sponsored by Petrie's Family Games!
