Monica McCarty Highland Guard Series

Thank you for your inquiry. Many books are preordered as ebooks before the physical book is ordered, due to print processing issues. Please fill out a patron purchase request to ensure your hold is placed here: We will order this book closer to its print publication, probably around the first of November.

Thanks again,

My sister and I both love the Nancy Drew PC games, we were wanting to play two games in particular, Nancy Drew: The Phantom of Venice and Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned For Danger, both from Her Interactive games. Could you guys put through a request to order it? Thanks!

Video Games

Hello... I have four video games on hold (two for months) that say they are being ordered but never have been. I was wondering if the library was still acquiring video games for their collection. Thank you!!

Video Games

Thank you for your inquiry. Ordering games for the library is a complicated process. The titles you are on hold for are ordered but not yet received. The preparation to make the discs secure and to have them show in our catalog is extensive. The orders don’t ship until all of the copies of a title are secured by our vendor.

We are still ordering games for the library for the Wii U, Playstation 4, and XBOX One systems. There are less and less games available in physical format so you will see fewer games. Thank you again.

Vladimir Tod series

I've asked the front desk people if you have the last book twelfth grade kills but she said you guys didn't have the book so could you order that one.

Vladimir Tod series

We will order more copies of this title. We appreciate that you brought this to our attention.

Thank you!

Mlb 2k15

It would be great if you kept up to date games for the Mlb 2k series for Xbox 360 and Playstation platforms. I see you guys have Mlb The Show but that is limited to only Playstation and doesn't give Xbox players an equal option. This would be greatly appreciated by many.

MLB 2K15

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately we cannot buy enough copies of most titles to justify purchasing them for the Library.

H.M.S. Surprise

Patrick O'Brian's novel "H.M.S Surprise" is the third in the Aubrey-Maturin series, but it appears to be the only one that the library doesn't have. Could you please order this book?

H.M.S. Surprise

We do have this book but it is currently checked out. I was able to find it in our public catalog. Please email me at I will place you on hold.

Basketball and Football Card Price Guides

It would be nice that you keep up to date price guides of both football and basketball cards as well as baseball. This would be much appreciated to collectors who need quick access to these resources. Beckett Card Price Guides would be preferred with the most recent edition.

Basketball and Football Card Price Guides

Thank you for your suggestion! We will add these to our list of items to automatically order as soon as the new version is published. The next basketball guide comes out on October 30th, and the football guide comes out on September 18th. If you have placed a purchase request through, you will be placed on hold and notified when they are ready for you to pick up!

Pony Pals

My daughter loves the Pony Pals series by Betancourt, Jeanne, however the available titles are slim. Numbers 1 through 7, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 14, 35 and 38 are the only ones available. Is that something that could be filled in more or should we look to get inter-library loans?

Thank you!

Pony Pals series

Thank you for your comment regarding this series. Unfortunately, the titles in this series are no longer available for purchase so I think that requesting them through interlibrary loan is your best option.

I'm glad that your daughter loves reading this series, perhaps she might be interested in books by Marguerite Henry such as the classic, Misty of Chincoteague; the Black Stallion books by Walter Farley or the Chestnut Hill series by Lauren Brooke.

Thank you for your patronage of the library.

Two DVDs

Hi. I would like to suggest the PPLD add two DVDs to their collection. The first is Romero, a 1989 film directed by John Duigan. The second is Salvador, a 1986 film directed by Oliver Stone. I think both of these would be of interest to PPLD patrons, especially given Óscar Romero's beatification last month.

Two DVDs

Thank you for your suggestion! We will order Romero. Unfortunately, Salvador is out of print.

Brett Battles Series Jonathan Quinn

Missing the following books in the series in CD or Audio format: The Destroyed, The Collected, The Enraged, The Discarded these are books 5, 6, 7, 8

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, these four Battles titles were only published on Audible which is a non-physical format and in the MP3 cd format. Our library does not purchase the MP3 format. The audio publisher is owned by Amazon which means we can’t purchase the eAudio format from OverDrive, our primary eMaterials provider.

Nalini Singh Psy-Changeling Series Missing Books

First of all, please allow me to apologize for the emails I have sent telling you the library was missing books in a series only to have you find them. I promise you I look and look again so that I don't waste your time but apparently I have missed them.

However, I will risk it again. =)

PPLD does not have the following books in the Singh Psy-Changeling Series
Book 2 Visions of Heat (I got this from ILL)
Book 5 Hostage to Pleasure (I looked and looked and looked again and the title does not pull up in the catalog search- I swear I looked =) )

I would also like to thank you for responding to these requests. I love the books and appreciate the fact that you are willing to order them.

West Wing

I'm not sure where this falls in the request for purchasing titles; I am currently 8th in line for The West Wing Season 2 DVD (a 14 day rental), for which ppld only has 1 copy. Would you consider purchasing a second copy of this DVD set since there seems to be a demand for it?

West Wing

We will get additional copies ordered. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Hello, I have 2 books that I have placed on hold that have both been "on order" for over 3 months now. Any word on the progress? The titles are "Beautiful Redemption" and "The Law of Moses". Thank you.

I apologize for the delay in processing these two books. We have a backlog with cataloging items. However, these two titles will be cataloged and processed by the end of this week. So you will be notified as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your patience and we appreciate your patronage of the library district.

Additional Missing books from Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress Seri

Hi there-

Earlier this month I sent a note letting you know the library had cd's or downloadable options for Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress Series, but did not have all the books. (I believe the books I told you about were ordered.)

I am working my way through the series and I have discovered the library is missing a few more books to that series. I have ordered these through ILL (which is what I did with the others that weren't available) I thought you might want to consider ordering these as well to complete the series.

Still missing in book form:

This Side of the Grave #5
One Grave at a Time #6

If you are also willing to carry the novella's- the following are missing:
Happily Never After #1.5
Devil to Pay #3.5
Home for the Holidays #6.5 (ILL doesn't have this available in book format either)

Thank you!

Catalog rapid view dvds

I spoke with a reference librarian to see if there was a list of the rapid view dvds and we could not find one, so she suggested I add a comment as she verified they are actually checked and reviewed.

I recently saw a rapid view title I might be interested in, but can't remember the name of it. I looked on the PPLD site for a list of the rapid view selections even for this week, but was not able to find anything.

So my suggestion/thought is, why don't you catalog the rapid view movies each time the list is updated. If they're contained in a database, it shouldn't be very hard to click a radio button that says "rapid view". Once the operator clicks save, it would update the list automatically.

Hi there. Try this link for

Games rated M

I am curious why the library will purchase movies rated R but won't purchase video games rated M?? Thank you

Public libraries promote and

Public libraries promote and sustain popular culture as part of their charge. Library collections are modified over time to reflect changes in popular culture and technology, as with the acquisition of music, software, and movies. Libraries began to circulate video games in this fashion. It is the philosophy of the public library to provide equitable access to materials of interest to the community, and video games have proven to be popular.

PPLD made an initial decision to circulate games up through the level T, for teen, by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. It was determined at that time the collection was developed that M-rated materials, for mature, would not be added for circulation. This decision was based on the need to develop standards for selecting M-rated games and determining policies related to their circulation.

While Pikes Peak Library District is committed to providing the broadest access possible through its collection of materials, there has been no movement to date on the addition of M-rated games. Analysis of the games and the cultural landscape surrounding them is ongoing.

Counter thoughts

I have been wondering about this myself for quite a while as most of the best reviewed titles are M rated titles. In other words, the best of this particular media is not being stocked for your patrons. This is a real misstep as the library certainly stocks mature books and movies (both of a violent and sexual nature). Is this a bias towards the typical gamers being thought of as underage? I think in the library's slow attempt (many years at this point) to understand the cultural landscape, it should note that most gamers are adults and to offer some kind of vague reply on this subject such as "Analysis of the games and the cultural landscape surrounding them is ongoing" does not really address the issue nor is it a library's role to be depriving the public of quality media while they asses the landscape. The lack of action on this subject paired with the response, which reeks of ignorant we have your best interest in mind censorship seems based on a bias towards the media and the group which is stereotypically associated with it. "Perhaps no place in any community is so totally democratic as the town library." said First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson.
It should be a library's role (under judicious and knowledgeable circumstances) to provide the best possible media to its patrons without bias, not define what is appropriate for its consumption nor take many years to come to a decision on so simple an issue.

Oh wow.. that was quite an

Oh wow.. that was quite an answer. Hoping that the library will eventually get M rated games since some of them are the best out there and will add some fun to the game collection. Thank you for getting back to me.

New eBooks

I followed the directions for how to recommend a new eBook for purchase by the library but cannot get to the page to enter the title I would like to read.

Series Book Requests

Hi there- I see that you have some paperback books for Monica McCarty's Highland Guard series, but you don't have the entire series in paperback format- you have some available only via ebook. Some of these books are older than 2 years old, but would a request for paperback for the series be considered anyway? Thank you

Series Book Requests

Copies of the titles in this series have been ordered, both additional copies of books that the library owns as well as titles that were not already in the library's collection. We appreciate your time and consideration to provide input regarding this series.

Twice, I've requested "The

Twice, I've requested "The Adversary", the 3rd book in The Sundering. No response, no order, nothing. PPLD already has the first 2 books. The Adversary was released last month, the next book will be released next month and so on. I'm getting very concerned that PPLD will not finish ordering this series.

Additionally, The Raven's Shadow by Elspeth Cooper and Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson will be released this March. Both are series PPLD already has. There is nothing in the catalog to reserve.

I emailed a librarian a couple weeks ago (do not recall who) and have yet to hear back. I'm getting concerned that PPLD may be reducing their science fiction/fantasy orders.

All release dates were confirmed by Barnes & Noble's website.
