Monday Funday: Buttons

Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at East Teen Center (ETC) A & B

Every second and fourth Monday in the East Teen Center, we will be hosting an all day craft project. Today, we will use a button maker to make custom buttons! Come join us and create something awesome!

Makerbot 3D Printer Badging Class

When: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make II (Messy Maker Space)

Group badging for the Makerbot 3D Printers. After this training patrons will be "badged" to use the Makerbot 5th Generation and Makerbot Z18 3D printers during Open Hours. Walk-ins welcome if space allows.

GED / HiSET / TASC classes

When: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: Ruth Holley Library - 685 North Murray Blvd. at Ruth Holley Meeting Room

This class will help adults without a high school diploma prepare to take the GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency exams. Registration is required. New students must attend GED/HiSET/TASC Orientation to register and take a placement test. For upcoming Orientation dates, regularly check: http://new.ppld.org/adult-education. Adult Coloring

Maker in Residence: "Retro Cane" Polymer Clay

When: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at EA Makerspace

This class will explore the wonders of polymer clay. We will go over basics and create a "retro cane" figurine using a variety of tools and techniques. Must be at least 16 years of age. Registration is required.

Word II - 2013 Edition

When: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 6:15 PM - 7:45 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Petritz Learning Lab

Class Description: Builds on the basics learned in Word I. Learn additional formatting features such as: changing margins, fonts, and line spacing; insert and manipulate tables; spell check and thesaurus; headers and footers; using bullets and more.

Prerequisites: Word I. Call 884-9800 to register.

Stitch-

Stitch-Wits welcomes all stitchers (knitters, crocheters, piecers, etc.)to come stitch in community. Monthly programs (show and tell, library information, swaps, celebrations, and more) add variety to the weekly schedule. Come as often/little as you wish.

Learn how to research starting or growing a business or how to find a job in Minding Your Business. This class covers print sources, electronic databases and websites to help find information on industry, competition, vendors, financials, and more.

Laptop Lab

Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Library laptops are available for use in our downstairs meeting room. Library staff will be on hand either to assist with personal projects (class work, to job skills to Microsoft Office products, Facebook, Craigslist and more) or we can provide practice materials on computer basics. No registration required, but limited to first 10 attendees. Call the library for more information.

Toddler Time

When: Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Where: High Prairie Library - 7035 Old Meridian Rd. at High Prairie Meeting Room

One and two-year-old children, with a favorite adult, participate in nursery rhymes, music and movement, and listen to a few short books. Toddler Time builds on familiar experiences to introduce new vocabulary and word sounds in a lively atmosphere. (20 - 25 minutes)

Make II Open Hours

When: Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make II (Messy Maker Space)

During Open Hours, Make II is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis. Patrons must be badged to use a machine during a separate appointment before being able to use the machines in open hours. To inquire about badging, please call 719-884-9800, x 6364.

All patrons in the space must be at least 9 years old. 9-11 year olds must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Parent/guardian supervision is welcome for all minors over age 12.

Library Explorers Make

Meditation and Well Being
Come as you are and begin the journey to your desired Emotional Well-Being. This practice will use a combination of guided and silent meditation. Seating provided or bring your own mat.

Needles, Hooks, & Yarns

500 Scarves for Springs Mission by November 15. We need your help! Bring your needlework tools, we provide the yarn and will take the scarves to the center. Adult 8"x 60", child 6"x 44", you can just drop them off also. Or work on your current project while here, and come with enthusiasm for crafts.

Computer and Internet basics for beginners using tutorial-based coaching. No pre-registration. Walk-ins welcome. Bring your own head-phones or ear-buds. Or you can purchase ear-buds for $1 at the customer service desk for this class.

Watercolor Basics

Manitou artist & former art teacher, Denise Duker, will teach an introduction to painting with watercolor, from wet into wet washes of brilliant color to dry brush technique overlays. You will create a beautiful landscape, learning brush techniques for exciting textural elements, how to blend color & how to set up your composition. Denise is a member of Gallery 113, the High Country Art Assn. and has illustrated several children's books. Class size is limited & registration is required.

Simple Robotics Open Lab
