Microsoft Excel - I Class

When: Tuesday, September 27, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: Sand Creek Library - 1821 South Academy Blvd. at Sand Creek Computer Lab

In this class, you will learn how to create, manipulate, and format a basic spreadsheet in Excel 2010.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Simple Robotics Open Lab

Learn simple robotics coding using various robots owned by the library. No registration necessary.

Video Editing Basics Using Premiere CC Class

When: Tuesday, September 27, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Petritz Learning Lab

For those new to video editing, this introductory editing class will get you up and running with Adobe Premiere CC. We will cover a range of topics from navigating the interface, importing assets, working with sequences and timelines, applying titles and effects, and exporting your finished edit.

Patrons 9-13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

MAKE @ East Open Hours

When: Tuesday, September 27, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at EA Makerspace

During Open Hours MAKE @ East is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a trained PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis.

Facebook Business Pages

When: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Petritz Learning Lab

Put Facebook to work for your business by learning the basics of Facebook Business Pages. Create your page, learn to navigate the interface, and get tips on the types of content that drives interest in your business.

Pre-requisite: Students must already have a personal Facebook page and know their login information.

ESL Intake

Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Pine Room

A group of people will take the ESL pre-tests to enroll in classes. For this Intake they have to pre-register with Deya Rohe ext. 2225.

55+ Beginning Computer Class Series

When: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose Computer Lab

Meeting for 2 class sessions, students will learn to hold, move, and click a computer mouse. They will become familiar with the different cursor icons, the parts of a computer, practice simple navigation in a windows environment, and learn how to enter information using the keyboard. This is a class for people who have never used a computer. Patron will be signing up for both classes.

Homeschool Lunch @ High Prairie: What is Classical Music? with KCME!

Through physical activity, cartoons, and live music realize that you already have a basic understanding of what Classical Music is. Learn to even conduct! This is a very popular presentation for all ages (even adults)! We will be eating lunch from 11:30AM-12PM and our program will start promptly at 12PM. Registration is recommended.

Yoga Foundations

El Paso County Health and Human Services Outreach

Representatives from El Paso Health and Human Services will be available to assist patrons at the Penrose Library.

Make II Open Hours

When: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make II (Messy Maker Space)

During Open Hours, Make II is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis. Patrons must be badged to use a machine during a separate appointment before being able to use the machines in open hours. To inquire about badging, please call 719-884-9800, x 6364.

All patrons in the space must be at least 9 years old. 9-11 year olds must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Parent/guardian supervision is welcome for all minors over age 12.

Tech and Gadget Happy Hour

Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose Bay Area

Drop by and check out tech and gadget kits not limited to Robots, circuitry, lego robots, Cubelets, and other tech related items. Stay the full time, or just spend a few minutes.

Teen Arts and Crafts Open Studio

Where: Monument Library - 1706 Lake Woodmoor Drive at Monument Meeting Room

Hey Teens! On the last Wednesday of each month, come use our Meeting Room as a space to create! Supplies will be provided as available; however, feel free to bring whatever materials you are currently working with and use the space.

COSPLAY GROUP

Learn how to do costumes with little or no money! Our goal is to create a group to exchange ideas, art, and experiences with everybody that loves cosplay, comic-con, etc. We will also learn how to create masks, pins, and small items with 3-D printing.

In this class, you will learn more complex tools, charts, formulas, and sorting of an Excel worksheet in Excel 2010.

Studio Camera and Lighting Class

When: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: Library21c Special Rooms-1175 Chapel Hills Drive at The Studio

Prerequisite: Studio Orientation class. Basic introduction to the studio cameras and lights. Completion of course will allow you access to studio equipment and camera check-out. Course lasts approximately 3 hrs. Patrons 9-13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

GED / HiSET / TASC classes

When: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: Ruth Holley Library - 685 North Murray Blvd. at Ruth Holley Meeting Room

This class will help adults without a high school diploma prepare to take the GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency exams. Registration is required. Upcycling: Book Bows!

Join us each month at MAKE @ East to transform your worn out belongings into something new and improved.

This month we’ll be making book cover hair bows or bow ties! Please bring in the book jacket to your favorite book, or use the ones that we provide!

We’ll offer different activities each month, so check the online calendar for the latest project information.

Afinia 3D Printer Badging Class

When: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make II (Messy Maker Space)

Participants will get hands-on time to experiment with our Afinia H480 3D Printers. You will learn all the steps required to run the 3D Printer using sample 3D Models provided in the class. Four 3D printers will be available during this session, so be prepared to partner up!

Additional Notes:
- Bring your library card to get badged for using the 3D Printer during Make II Open Hours.
- Children 9-11 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Because of the short printing time, we cannot accommodate custom 3D models during this session.
- Participants may finish their prints before the end of the class, but print completion is not guaranteed.
