MAKE @ East Open Hours

During Open Hours MAKE @ East is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a trained PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis.

Tai Chi

When: Thursday, September 01, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose 1905 Carnegie Garden

Learn the fundamentals of Tai Chi in this free, hour long class. Students will learn the basics of posture, strength, relaxation, movement and breathing. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

Yoga at Monument Library

Where: Monument Library - 1706 Lake Woodmoor Drive at Monument Meeting Room

Join PPLD's first established yoga group at the Monument library every Thursday from noon to 1:00. Classes are held following D-38's calendar.

The Muse: Writer's Group

Community run writing group for writers of speculative fiction, science fiction, supernatural, steampunk, Dystopian and fantasy. Our goals are to improve our story, experiment with thought and language, and to have fun.

Open to adult writers. No reservations needed. Come and enjoy a group of like-minded writers.

Guided Meditation

When: Thursday, September 01, 2016 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Western Window Bay

Guided Meditation - Wear comfortable clothing. Mats optional, chairs provided. Gina will guide you in a nondenominational approach to meditation that combines healing, mental grounding and stress relief.

The hour-long practice goes through 5 phases of stillness:
1) Creating intention,
2) Establishing a peaceful and judgement-free space,
3) Connecting to earthly and universal love,
4) Mentally acknowledging and calming the physical belief from head to toe,
5) Final 10 minute silent meditation.

Holley Funtastic Friday

Funtastic Friday is a PPLD Library Explorers program for adults with developmental and or cognitive disabilities. Funtastic Friday is held in the Ruth Holley Study Room and the Teen Area, offering games computer access and other activities. Caregivers are welcome!

Coloring for Everyone

Join us once a month for a fun time coloring. Research shows that coloring is good for your health and a great way for all ages to enjoy time together. We will provide a selection of coloring pages, pencils, gel pens, markers and crayons. You are also welcome to bring your own supplies. Drop in anytime between 3:00 and 5:30! Each month has a theme. Check with the library for this month's theme!

DIY Garden Stepping Stone

Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make (Clean Maker Space)

Learn how to make your own mosaic garden stepping stone and bring your creation home with you! All materials will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring any pieces of glass or ceramic pieces that you would like to use.
This class will meet on Friday, September 2nd to lay tiles and set the cement, and on Friday, September 9th to complete the stone after the cement has set. You are signing up for both days when you sign up for September 2nd.

Bring your good-condition crafting materials (i.e., yarn, wood, fabric, beads, tools, paints, etc.) to share with other attendees and search through the supply stash for new finds. Free. Laptop Lab

Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Library laptops are available for use in our downstairs meeting room. Library staff will be on hand either to assist with personal projects (class work, to job skills to Microsoft Office products, Facebook, Craigslist and more) or we can provide practice materials on computer basics. No registration required, but limited to first 10 attendees. Call the library for more information.

Senior Chats
