Fountain Library hosts vaccine clinic in partnership with Governor, open to anyone 12 years and older

COLORADO SPRINGS – Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) continues to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics in partnership with Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All plan. The next clinic takes place at Fountain Library on Wed., May 19, with a focus on vaccinating 100 community members including those 12-15 years old.

Fountain Library, located at 230 S. Main St. in Fountain, will host the clinic from 1-5 p.m., with vaccinators administering the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine while supplies. Following CDC and state approval to expand the age range for this vaccine, the Library-hosted clinic will be open to anyone 12 years and older. Minors will need a parent or guardian present for registration and vaccine administration.

Appointments are strongly encouraged and can be made online in English or Spanish directly here through the State of Colorado’s registration website. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows; people will be placed on a waitlist unless open slots are available. The COVID-19 vaccine is cost-free for all community members, and ID or insurance is not needed for vaccination. There will be an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and Spanish translator on-site at this clinic.

The Library was selected as a vaccine equity clinic site as part of Governor Polis’ efforts to ensure that every person in Colorado has access to the vaccine, no matter who they are or where they live. These clinics focus on serving Coloradans who face barriers to accessing health care. PPLD’s first clinic took place on May 5 at Sand Creek Library in Southeastern Colorado Springs.

“Since we began distributing vaccines to communities across our state, we have made a concerted effort to do so in a way that is equitable, saves the most lives, and ends the immediate public health crisis as quickly as possible,” said Governor Jared Polis. “With each vaccine administered we take another step toward getting back to life as we knew it. I want to thank community organizations across our state for their partnership in ensuring that every person who wants a vaccine, can get one.”

PPLD plans to host clinics at other library locations across El Paso County in partnership with Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All plan, with the next two scheduled for Tue., June 1 at Penrose and Ruth Holley libraries. Future vaccine clinic locations, dates, and times will be posted at ppld.org/vaccines.

“We’re here to connect people with information, resources and services,” said Teona Shainidze-Krebs, Chief Public Services Officer and Deputy Chief Librarian for PPLD. “We appreciate the opportunity to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics in partnership with the Governor’s Office so more community members who want access to the vaccine have an opportunity to get it.”
