Do you like to run, walk, or sleep-in? Register to race for the cure or to sleep-in on race day. Either way, you will raise money to support the cause. The 2009 Race for the Cure will take place Sunday, September 13th at Garden of the Gods Park.

There is still time to register for the 2007 Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure that will be held this coming Sunday, September 9 at the Garden of the Gods. This year’s event activities include a new venue, and new activities. What has not changed is that 75% of money raised by this event stays in El Paso, Teller and Pueblo counties to support breast cancer programs and activities.

The American Cancer Society will be opening two Cancer Resource Centers in Colorado Springs, with Grand Openings being held next week.
The Penrose Cancer Center, 2222 North Nevada, will have its Cancer Resource Center grand opening Tuesday, July 24, from 2:00-4:00 PM, with a ceremony at 2:15.
The Memorial Cancer Center, 525 North Foote, will have its Cancer Resource Center grand opening Wednesday, July 25, from 12:00-1:30 PM, with a ceremony at 12:30.
Please stop by to see these wonderful facilities designed to help cancer patients.
This coming Saturday, July 14, will be the 16th Annual Run for Hope 5K run/3K walk at 7 AM in Memorial Park. This fund raiser benefits that Memorial Health System Cancer Center Circle of Hope Fund, which provides assistance for cancer patients undergoing treatment at Memorial Hospital. Your New ‘Normal’: Moving on after breast cancer treatment is a nationwide teleconference presented by Living Beyond Breast Cancer that will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM MDT (12:00 PM to 1:30 PM EDT) on Monday, May 7, 2007. This teleconference is intended for women who have completed initial treatment to focus on how to care for yourself and move on with your life after breast cancer. Some of the topics that will be covered include:
- Managing the short- and long-term physical, psychological, emotional, social and economic effects of breast cancer
- Creating a “survivorship care plan”
- Finding support
- Communicating with healthcare providers
- Getting good follow-up care
- Making lifestyle changes to improve your quality of life and reduce your risk of recurrence

A Wellness Series for Women With Breast Cancer…
A 5-week wellness program which explores simple, enjoyable and gentle ways to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Program content includes realistic goal-setting, easy stress-management techniques, healthy nutrition – including a discussion of herbals, supplements and vitamins, enjoyable exercise and movement and a final session on looking forward and how to incorporate course content into everyday life for a healthy outcome.
