The Shivers Concert Series has been raising funds to support local culture and arts for 31 years. These concerts benefit the Shivers Fund started by Peggy and Clarence Shivers, which contributes to the African-American collection at Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD), awards grants and scholarships to students, and encourages young people to pursue their interests in the arts.
The summer concert, titled An Evening of Inspirational Word & Song, features performances by the vocal ensemble Sankey Sisters, rap artist BJ Cameron, reenactor John C. Thomas, and vocalists Serenity Holloway and Matt Booker. There will be an ice cream social in the courtyard sponsored by Herman Tiemens’ group and book signings by authors Durthy Washington and Patricia Meredith, as well as artwork by artists Sereen Gualtieri and Clarence Shivers. This concert takes place on Sun., Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. at Packard Hall at Colorado College.
