GED Prep Classes

Classes prepare students to take the four GED subject tests which are an alternative to a high school diploma. Classes are for adults aged 17 and older who have not earned a high school certification. Specific class schedule is dependent on class enrollment. This program is a hybrid class environment with both online and in-person components.

Registration for GED fall enrollment is closed. Next registration will open in December 2025. Registration dates will be announced at a later time.


Class Dates

  • Fall Semester, August – December
    Orientation registration opens in July
  • Spring Semester, January – May
    Orientation registration opens in December

Offered Classes

Orientation is required.

  • Math
    • Hybrid, instructor-led classes. Each class meets twice a week - once on Zoom (virtual) and once in-person at Ruth Holley Library.
    • Schedule is dependent on class enrollment but typically occur Monday - Thursday between 5pm - 7pm.
  • Reading
    • Hybrid, instructor-led classes. Each class meets twice a week - once on Zoom (virtual) and once in-person at Penrose Library.
    • Schedule is dependent on class enrollment but typically occur Monday - Thursday between 5pm - 7pm.
  • Science and Social Studies
    Online and independent. No formal class meetings, but instructor support is available.

Requirements:

Attendees must:

  • Register for and attend orientation
  • Be age 17+ at date of orientation
  • Attend both in-person and online classes every week
  • Study independently every week
  • Complete required testing
