COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is adjusting its service model once again to be more accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic. With El Paso County returning to the “orange” status, PPLD will resume limited services inside all libraries beginning Tue., Jan. 19. Until then, patrons will need to make a reservation to use a computer or copy, fax, and scan documents at one of their locations by calling (719) 531-6333, option 3; no browsing allowed yet. Patrons will be welcome back inside to do one or more of the following without a reservation:
- Browse the physical collection.
- Use self-checkout machines and service desks.
- Reserve one, 55-minute computer session per day. (Reservations encouraged! Call (719) 531-6333, option 3 to book your session; Library card required to reserve by phone.)
- Use machines to fax, scan, and/or copy documents without staff assistance.
- Charge your devices.
- Make a 55-minute reservation to access Special Collections in the 1905 Carnegie Library.
Open hours and specific services may vary by location, so people are encouraged to check in advance at ppld.org or by calling (719) 531-6333, option 3. All Library visitors over the age of two are required to wear a cloth face covering. The first hour will be reserved for people at higher risk of serious complications from COVID-19. People also can take advantage of curbside services at library locations, in addition to PPLD’s virtual ask-a-librarian services, large digital collection, extensive hub of online resources, and many virtual programs, all accessible online at ppld.org. “The Library is here to serve the community, regardless of the circumstances,” said Michelle Ray, Chief Communications Officer for PPLD. “We look forward to making our resources and services more accessible again while continuing to ensure the health and safety of our patrons, staff, and greater community during this ongoing pandemic.” Learn more about the Library’s response to the novel coronavirus and what patrons can expect at ppld.org/COVID-19. ###
