3D Printers are available by reservation at all makerspace locations. Walk-ins are permitted, but usage of the machine cannot be guaranteed. To reserve a 3D printer, please visit our equipment reservation page. 3D printers allow people to create physical objects from three-dimensional models. PPLD's printers use a process that heats and lays down thin layers of plastic on top of each other. PPLD provides a variety of filament types and colors for use with our 3D printers at a low cost. Patrons are not allowed to bring outside filament for use with PPLD machines.

The laser machines at PPLD are available for cutting and engraving a variety of materials to make items with a high level of accuracy and detail. The Library does not provide materials for the lasers; here are some things you can bring to use with them:

• Cutting and engraving: Wood, cork, matboard, cardboard, acrylic plastic, cardstock
• Engraving only: Glass, stone, ceramic, brick, painted metals

These machines require badging before use. To become badged, either watch the Laser Badging Video and pass the quiz at the end or simply attend a laser badging class at one of PPLD's three makerspaces. Vinyl and die cutters are available by reservation at all makerspace locations. Walk-ins are permitted, but usage of the machine cannot be guaranteed. To reserve a vinyl and die cutter, please visit our equipment reservation page. Vinyl and die cutters allow people to safely and accurately cut or draw designs on paper, vinyl, iron-on transfer materials, cardstock, sticker paper, select fabrics, and other materials. Conversion Machines are available by reservation at all makerspace locations, but equipment varies by location. Walk-ins are permitted, but usage of the machine cannot be guaranteed. To reserve a Conversion Machine, please visit our equipment reservation page. The conversion machines at PPLD offer a way to convert media from one format to another -- If you have old home videos on VHS tapes for example, you can convert them to DVD using these machines. Types of conversion machines available include:

• VHS > DVD
• Slide, photo negative, physical photo > digital photo (.jpg)
• Record or cassette > CD
• 8mm or Super8 > Digital

PPLD provides both PC and Mac options loaded with a variety of specialty software including photo and video editing, sound editing, 3D modeling, animation, and CAD design, including:

• Inkscape
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Silhouette Studio, Business Edition

In addition to larger machinery and equipment, PPLD makerspaces provide an assortment of art supplies and craft tools. All makerspaces provide basic items such as scissors, rulers, XACTO knives, cutting mats, hot glue guns, jewelry pliers, and more. Most spaces provide small hand tools, as well as knitting and crochet tools. You will also find specialty tools at select locations, such as a yarn respooler at East Library. Supplies vary by location; please call ahead to confirm availability. 

In addition to larger machinery and equipment, PPLD makerspaces provide an assortment of hand and power tools for basic woodworking, soldering, and electronics work.

All makerspaces provide a variety of basic tools. Power tools include items such as dremels, drills, soldering irons, and heat guns. Hand tools include items such as saws, wrenches (including allen), various pliers and screwdrivers, box cutters, clamps, hammers and mallets, digital calipers, and tape measurers.

Supplies vary by location; please call ahead to confirm availability.

PPLD provides safety equipment at all of its makerspace locations. Ask staff at each location where to find the following items:
