Pikes Peak Library Districts hosts more vaccine clinics, open to anyone 12 years and older

COLORADO SPRINGS – Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) continues to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics across El Paso County, in partnership with Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All plan. Four clinics are scheduled during the first two weeks in June, with a focus on vaccinating 100 community members 12 years and older at each site.

Here are the upcoming dates, times and locations in Colorado Springs and Falcon:

  • Tuesday, June 1 from 1-5 p.m. at Penrose Library (20 N. Cascade Ave.)
  • Tuesday, June 1 from 1-5 p.m. at Ruth Holley Library (685 N. Murray Blvd.)
  • Sunday, June 6 from 1-5 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Library (1785 S. 8th St., Suite 100)
  • Monday, June 7 from 2-6 p.m. at High Prairie Library (7035 Old Meridian Rd.)

Vaccinators will administer the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine while supplies last at each clinic. They are open to anyone over the age of 11, but minors do need a parent or guardian present for registration and vaccine administration. An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and Spanish translator will be on-site as well.

Appointments are strongly encouraged and can be made online in English or Spanish through the State of Colorado’s registration website. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows; people will be placed on a waitlist unless open slots are available. The COVID-19 vaccine is cost-free for all community members, and ID or insurance is not needed for vaccination.

“Since we began distributing vaccines to communities across our state, we have made a concerted effort to do so in a way that is equitable, saves the most lives, and ends the immediate public health crisis as quickly as possible,” said Governor Jared Polis. “With each vaccine administered we take another step toward getting back to life as we knew it. I want to thank community organizations across our state for their partnership in ensuring that every person who wants a vaccine, can get one.”

PPLD was selected for vaccine equity clinic sites as part of Governor Polis’ efforts to ensure that every person in Colorado has access to the vaccine, no matter who they are or where they live. These clinics focus on serving Coloradans who face barriers to accessing health care. The Library plans to host clinics at other locations across El Paso County in partnership with Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All plan. Future vaccine clinic locations, dates and times will be posted at ppld.org/vaccines.

“We’re here to connect people with information, resources and services,” said Teona Shainidze-Krebs, Chief Public Services Officer and Deputy Chief Librarian for PPLD. “We appreciate the opportunity to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics in partnership with the Governor’s Office so more community members who want access to the vaccine have an opportunity to get it.”
