Pikes Peak Library District Purchases 3924 Pony Tracks Drive for a Future Library
On Fri., March 20, Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) celebrated its purchase of 3924 Pony Tracks Drive, which will be the location of a future PPLD Library location.
The 1.91-acre lot is at the intersection of Peterson Road and North Carefree Circle, and adjacent to Sand Creek High School. Some surrounding neighborhoods are merely steps away.
At the celebration and ribbon cutting, the community expressed their excitement about the new location, matching the Library District’s enthusiasm about bringing materials, resources, and library services to the eastern region of El Paso County.
“We’ve been thinking about placing a library in this area for decades,” said PPLD CEO Teona Shainidze-Krebs. “We’re now one step closer to making it a reality.”
PPLD Foundation President Kathleen Owings echoed Ms. Shainidze-Krebs’ hopes and took it one step further.
“The timeline for bringing this location to life is largely dependent upon when funds can be raised,” Owings pointed out. “Fundraising for this library, and other PPLD needs, will be driven by the Foundation, but will be most successful if we all work together – the Library District, the Foundation, community leaders, and you, the community.”
Presently, PPLD has not yet established a timeline for the new location on the property. Fundraising is a key component for determining when design details can be developed and construction can begin.
However, the basic framework, a site where sustainable Library services will be available in this eastern area of El Paso County, has been secured.
