COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) presents many options to engage people of all ages and interests across El Paso County. Here are some upcoming opportunities this month:
Winter Adult Reading Program

The annual Winter Adult Reading Program at Pikes Peak Library District kicked off on Wed., Feb. 1 and runs through Fri., March 31. Participants who log 30 days of activities (including reading and other activities listed at ppld.org/winterreading) can earn this year’s limited edition Winter Adult Reading Program mug (while supplies last) and will be entered into the grand prize drawing for one of three Samsung Galaxy tablets. This program has been an annual PPLD feature for nearly 20 years and had 3,340 participants in 2022.
Love Letters to Pikes Peak Library District

This month Pikes Peak Library District is celebrating Library Lovers’ Month. Through Feb. 28, El Paso County residents are invited to write a love letter to the Library which will enter them into a drawing to win prizes, including tickets to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum, dinner for two at The Summit at The Broadmoor, library swag bags, and more. Love letter forms are available at every Library location, or letters can be submitted online at ppld.org/love-letters.
Black History Month

Pikes Peak Library District is celebrating Black History Month with special programming recognizing the history, culture and achievements of Black Americans. Penrose Library is hosting the “How We Move Through Life” exhibit displaying art by local artist Kevin Johnson and featuring a special portrait honoring philanthropist and local music legend Peggy Shivers. Teens are invited to learn how to create mosaic paintings in the style of Black American artist Alma Thomas. Library cardholders can access curated book lists on Hoopla and a Black History Month playlist on Freegal. At the upcoming Homeschool Science Fair at Pikes Peak Library District, local homeschool students grades K – 12 are presenting their best science projects. This annual event provides homeschoolers with an enriching scientific environment to showcase their experiments and discoveries. The community is invited to browse and chat with students about their presentations, and kids can let us know what they learned at the science fair to receive a prize.
