The first event will be held at Aga Park in Fountain on Fri., July 11 from 10 a.m. - noon. Attendees can enjoy a petting zoo from Wishing Star Farm, explore community helper vehicles like fire trucks, and participate in other family-fun activities including enjoying a frozen treat from Culver’s, building with blocks and magnetic tiles, checking out vendor booths like Bricks & Minifigs, and more.

The next event will take place at George Fellows Park behind East Library on Fri., July 18 from 10 a.m. - noon. There will be activities and booths for kids, a petting zoo from Wishing Star Farm, a helicopter brought in by Children’s Hospital Colorado, a foam party, vendor booths like Raisin’ Cane’s Chicken Fingers, a water slide, a visit with Switchbacks mascot Ziggy, free frozen treats from Shake Shack, a children’s obstacle course, face painting, and more. Parents and guardians looking for activities for children ages 0 – 12 will find enriching programs at Pikes Peak Library District this summer. During its 2025 Summer Adventure presented by the Friends of Pikes Peak Library District reading program, the Library is offering an array of Summer Fun programs for children. These programs are designed to be entertaining and educational to support kids and keep their brains engaged with learning activities while school is on break. Children can enjoy engaging puppet theater, bilingual yoga, robotics, petting zoos, science, and musical performances. For those participating in Summer Adventure, attending Summer Fun programs counts toward the 30 days of activities required to complete the reading program and earn a prize.

There is still time to sign up for Summer Adventure. Participants signing up can backlog reading and activities they did in June as part of their 30 day challenge. Kids and teens will receive a book as a registration prize (while supplies last). Registration is open until the end of the program, which ends on Thu., July 31.

As part of its summer lineup, PPLD also has a selection of special events and programs available for teens and adults to enjoy.

Pikes Peak Library District’s (PPLD) Maker Camp program returns for a second year to teach local teens ages 13 - 18 how to use makerspace technology to bring their creative ideas to life. This unique hands-on experience will introduce teens to using 3D printers, laser cutters, CAD 3D printer modeling software, and sewing machines. At the end of the week-long program, teens will demonstrate their new skills by completing a project using Library makerspace equipment. Participants will also be able to add these new skills to their resume or college applications.

The Library expanded the program from a single one-week session to three one-week sessions in order to make the program available to more teens in our community. Teens should only register for one week-long session. Registration is required, and spots are limited. Registration opens two weeks before the session starts. Each week-long session will take place at a different Library location.

  • Library 21c: July 14 – 18 from 1 – 4 p.m.
  • East Library: July 21 – 25 from 1 – 4 p.m.
  • Sand Creek Library: July 28 – Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
