Everyone can enjoy three no-cost summer celebrations with the Library, and Summer Fun programs offer enrichment for children ages 0 – 12 this summer

Pikes Peak Library District is wrapping up its 2024 Summer Adventure presented by Children’s Hospital Colorado program with outdoor celebrations in July. Summer Adventure is the Library’s annual summer reading program that keeps readers and learners of all ages engaged over the summer. The parties offer no-cost family fun in the sun celebrating a summer of learning and reading during Summer Adventure.
The first celebration, happening at the Palmer Lake Town Hall Green on Fri., July 12, features a live concert with Katherine Dines and her Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta® Music. Participants of all ages will enjoy traditional and original songs from Dines’ 13 award-winning albums, Sign Language, dance, and props from around the globe.
On Fri., July 19, the Library will celebrate the summer at Aga Park in Fountain with its second event, the all-ages Summer Adventure Party. Young visitors will enjoy live music and movement with Katherine Dines and her Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta® Music, a petting zoo by Wishing Star Farm, community helper vehicles like ambulances to explore, and other fun summer activities.
The Library District will wrap up its summer of fun with its third Summer Adventure Party on Fri., July 26 at George Fellows Park behind East Library. Described as the ultimate summer bash, this party will feature a world of fun activities and booths for kids of all ages. Young participants will enjoy a foam party, a petting zoo by Wishing Star Farm, face painting, rock painting, and other fun activities. The Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District will also have a book sale at the event.

- Summer Adventure Celebration at Palmer Lake Town Hall Green (66 Low Glenway St., Palmer Lake): Fri., July 12 from 6 – 7 p.m.
- Summer Adventure Party at Aga Park (415 W. Alabama Ave., Fountain): Fri., July 19 from 10 a.m. - noon.
- Summer Adventure Party at East George Fellows Park (5550 N. Union Blvd., right behind East Library): Fri., July 26 from 10 a.m. - noon.

Parents and guardians looking for activities for children ages 0 – 12 will find enriching programs at Pikes Peak Library District this summer. During its Summer Adventure reading program, the Library is offering an array of Summer Fun programs for children. These programs are designed to be entertaining and educational to support children and keep their brains engaged with learning activities while school is on break. Children will enjoy engaging with storytelling, the kinetics of juggling, dinosaur history, live music, dance, the science of coldness, West African music and storytelling, and more. For children participating in Summer Adventure, attending Summer Fun programs counts toward the 30 days of activities required to complete the program and earn a prize.
