Winter Adult Reading Program Breaks Records, Spring Break Programs, and New Culture Pass Partner 
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) presents many options to engage people of all ages and interests across El Paso County. Here are some upcoming opportunities this month: 

Record Participants Sign Up for the Library’s Annual Winter Adult Reading Program

Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) has seen continued growth in participation numbers for its annual Winter Adult Reading Program in recent years. The program had 5,070 people register in 2024, a 25% increase from the year prior. During its 2025 run, the program has already registered 4,771 participants, and the Library hopes to surpass last year’s registration numbers. Registration opened on Feb. 1 and is open through March 31. It is not too late to sign up. Participants can log 30 days of reading and activities between Feb. 1 and March 31 to earn prizes and be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing. Anyone registering now is welcome to backlog reading and activities they did in February and March.  

 

The Library Engages Students with Fun Spring Break Learning Opportunities

Children can participate in engaging learning opportunities at the Library during Spring Break. From March 24 – 29, the Library District will host a variety of Spring Break programs. These programs give children and their parents and caregivers an opportunity to enjoy learning outside of the classroom. Programs include: Creatures of the Night, a program about nocturnal animals; Cool Science Super- Sized Science, a show by Cool Science with science experiments, tricks, and demonstrations kids can try at home (safely) using everyday materials; Raptor Protection Program, in which Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) will present on birds of prey and how the CSU team prevents bird injuries; and Taste of Imagination, a playful storytelling adventure with plenty of laughing, playing, and silly songs presented by Beth Epley. 

 

Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center Joins Pikes Peak Culture Pass 

New partner; Community interest; Arts & Culture

Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) welcomes the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center in Pueblo as the newest partner to join its Pikes Peak Culture Pass program. This accredited museum provides diverse artistic, educational, and culturally relevant experiences for southern Colorado and its surrounding areas. Visitors can enjoy six exhibit galleries, an award-winning children’s museum, a school of dance, live performances, and a variety of art, music, and theater classes. PPLD library cardholders can now check out a no-cost entry pass that is good for one adult and one child to visit the conference center’s Buell Children’s Museum and Helen Thatcher White Art Galleries. One pass will be available daily, so patrons are asked to plan ahead.
