Colorado Springs (April 8, 2026) – During May 2026, Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) will host town halls to discuss the District’s plans for the Library locations in Palmer Lake, Calhan, and Ute Pass. 

At these gatherings, PPLD CEO Teona Shainidze-Krebs will provide information about the overall state of the Library District and introduce the long-awaited hybrid access library concept to patrons. She will also answer questions from the community. Attendees will then be invited to participate in a survey that rates the Library District and its services; the results will help shape PPLD’s strategic plan for the upcoming years.

The town hall meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Palmer Lake Library Town Hall - Wednesday, May 6 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Palmer Lake Town Hall, 42 Valley Crescent St., Palmer Lake, CO.
  • Ute Pass Library Town Hall – Monday, May 11 from 10:30 – noon at Marcroft Hall, 9105 Chipita Park Rd., Cascade, CO.
  • Calhan Library Town Hall – Wednesday, May 13 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Calhan Town Hall, 556 Colorado Ave., Calhan, CO.

Shainidze-Krebs will fully explain the hybrid access library concept during these presentations. The new model will offer increased access to select libraries during hours outside the location’s traditionally staffed operating hours. It will significantly expand access, making the library space and its resources available 112 hours each week – up from 24 to 32 hours a week. 

“The Library District is committed to continuously exploring ways to make our resources and services more accessible to the community and improving and expanding the services we offer,” said Denise Abbott, PPLD chief communications & marketing officer. “These meetings will give us an opportunity to discuss recent innovations in detail directly with our patrons and learn firsthand how they feel about these developments as well as what they want from their library.”

If community members have questions about their library, they can submit them online at ppld.org/town-halls. The question submission period opens on April 8 for Palmer Lake Library and April 15 for Ute Pass and Calhan libraries. The submission periods will remain open for each location for two weeks.
