COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Meet more than 80 local authors, take part in teen and tween writing workshops, and learn about writing from a Coloradan with best-selling novels and nonfiction works. Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Mountain of Authors, an annual literary event organized by PPLD. The event will take place from noon - 5 p.m. on Sat., May 16, at Library 21c, 1175 Chapel Hills Drive. The no-cost community event also features interactive workshops, panel discussions, and keynote presentations that celebrate two decades of storytelling, creativity, and literary connection in the Pikes Peak region. Since its founding, Mountain of Authors has connected readers and writers while highlighting the diverse voices of Colorado authors. This year’s anniversary event marks the largest local author showcase in the program’s history, bringing together writers from across multiple genres including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, mystery, children’s literature, and more. “Writers will have the chance to meet with local writing and publishing groups and hear from notable authors in the region about their writing and research processes,” said Heidi Buljung, a senior librarian at PPLD. This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Randi Samuelson-Brown, an award-winning Colorado author and historian known for exploring the untold stories of the American West. Attendees will also be able to enjoy a special panel discussion focused on Colorado and Western history, as well as workshops, poetry performances, book signings, and more.
