Paws to Read

Kids practice reading aloud and gain confidence by sharing a story with one of our lovable Paws to Read therapy dogs.

Avalanche!

  • Human: Jackie
  • Fun Fact: Avalanche is a pit bull mix who was born in a snowstorm.
  • Location: East Library - Wednesdays, 4 p.m.

  • Human: Vanessa
  • Fun Fact: Beau loves stuffed animals, playing fetch, going on long walks/hikes, riding in the car, snuggling on the couch, and pup cups. But he loves people most of all!

  • Human: Judy
  • Fun Fact: Bella has been a wonderful mother to seven litters of puppies.  Now that she is retired, her favorite activities are playing fetch with her squeaky ball and being petted by everyone she meets.

  • Fun Fact: Billy is a Border Collie mix who has been volunteering as a therapy dog through Intermountain Therapy Animals since 2018. He loves belly rubs and reading with kids, so please come and visit!

  • Fun Fact: Hello, I am Frida. My Mom named me after Frida Kahlo, the famous artist. I get so excited when I see children! My signature “hello” is sniffing your ear. I love playing with other dogs outside, hiking, camping, and paddle boarding, but please don’t make me swim in the lake! I have plenty of energy, but more than anything I love to snuggle. Please come read or listen to a book with me, because I love kids!

  • Fun Fact: Hope is a Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study hero, and loves raw apples and carrots. In April 2018, Grace give birth to a litter of ELEVEN puppies. Some of her pups are now trained therapy dogs too.

  • Fun Fact: Livvy is a rescue from Belgium. She loves chasing after tennis balls, swimming to fetch sticks, and going for walks. Her favorite treat is a Greenie and she will speak, shake hands, and give high fives for one!

  • Human: Sherri
  • Fun Fact: Lola is a Certified Therapy Dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and has her AKC Canine Good Citizen Award. She is a Havanese, the National Dog of Cuba. This breed of dog is in the same family as Bichons and Poodles and do not shed. They are sweet, charming, and very smart. Lola's favorite games are tug and fetch and her favorite foods are cheese and peanut butter.

  • Fun Fact: Maverick enjoys listening to stories, especially when it is a child that reads to him. He eagerly explores parks and hiking trails madly sniffing for squirrels and rabbits. His true job is to walk with his young humans back and forth to school.

  • Fun Fact: Ndora love to snuggle, snack on apple slices, and can run 32 mph!

  • Fun Fact: Ollie is a rescue from Hungary. He is crazy about his walks and lives to run freely through meadows and down mountain trails. His favorite treat is a Greenie and will shake hands and give you a high five for one. He also lives for belly rubs and hugs!
