Author Randi Samuelson-Brown, who writes what she calls “unflinching” history and historical fiction, recalls an evening she spent having dinner with some of her older relatives. Literary Connections in Colorado

By Amy Gillentine

This winter, travel in the footsteps of a woman who braved the harshness of the Rocky Mountains in the 1800s, visit a haunted hotel, experience Denver as seen through the eyes of James Michener, and explore Colorado just like Jack Kerouac.

Or you can read another epic horror novel partially set in the town of Boulder, experience the upheaval from the deliberate flooding of a town, or discover the tragic life of a silver baron’s wife.

History Beyond Words

History has been well documented in written forms. Words describing previous events fill millions of books and research papers. But the story of our past can also be found in other formats, such as architecture, geography, film, audio recordings, artwork, and more.

These non-textual histories are the focus of Pikes Peak Library District’s (PPLD) 22nd Annual Pikes Peak Regional History Symposium.
