Library hosts New York Times bestseller for event helping local authors get published

Pikes Peak Library District brings in Sandhya Menon, other award-winners for Mountain of Authors

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – All the latest trends in writing and publishing will be on display at Library 21c on Saturday, April 27.

The 13th annual Mountain of Authors event at Pikes Peak Library District will present a full day of activities focused on learning opportunities and advice for local writers. The event aims to get the public and local writers networking together while learning from experts in the field, helping writers hone their craft and share their work.

“We’re really excited about this year’s lineup of authors and topics,” said Amy Rodda, Director of Adult Services for Pikes Peak Library District. “Our team wanted to bring in experts for our panels that focus not only on writing, but also on publishing your work and getting people excited about what you’re putting out there.”

New York Times best-selling author Sandhya Menon will give the keynote address. Menon will discuss her journey to become a writer, leading to her publication of When Dimple Met Rishi and From Twinkle, with Love.

The author panel will discuss how to write an award-winning book, with authors Barbara Nickless, Peg Brantley, and Liz Colter chiming in. Publishing and marketing experts Angie Hodapp, Anita Mumm, and Mary Walewski will host a session on how to get your book out there after publishing. There will also be a session on writing and publishing resources available at the library.

“Our goal is to ensure everyone who attends this event leaves feeling prepared to polish their writing in a beneficial way, and then get it published and marketed in a way that puts the text in front of a large audience,” Rodda said. “We’re very optimistic that this year’s lineup will help our local writing talent do just that.”

The event is free, and no registration is required. More information can be found at www.ppld.org/moa.
