Contributors to “Yes She Can” to discuss importance of diversity in public service
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A few veterans of the White House will pay a visit to the library next week.
On June 23, four contributors to Yes She Can: 10 Stories of Hope & Change from Young Female Staffers of the Obama White House will host a discussion event at Penrose Library. The group will talk about their paths to working in the White House and their desire for other young women to follow their lead to get in involved in public service.
The 10 young women who contributed to the book joined the White House staff while in their 20s, hoping to make a difference. Each worked in different areas of the administration, from urban renewal to science and technology. The goal of the book is to tell stories about young women with diverse backgrounds working in public service, in the hopes that other young women will see themselves represented in the field and follow suit.
Panelists for the event include:
- Eleanor Celeste served in the White House from ages 26 to 28, until the end of the Obama Administration and through the transition, most recently as Assistant Director for Biomedical and Forensic Sciences in the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
- Molly Dillon served in the White House from ages 23 to 27, until the end of the Obama Administration, most recently as a Policy Advisor for Urban Affairs, Justice and Opportunity in the Domestic Policy Council.
- Jenna Brayton is formerly a member of the first White House digital team—known as the Office of Digital Strategy—tasked with helping President Obama find his voice online. At the White House, she served as Associate Director of Content and Operations, working to help manage content partnerships, communications campaigns and digital outreach.
- Noemie Levy served in the White House from ages 22 to 27, most recently as a Senior Policy Advisor for partnerships in the Office of Science and Technology Policy, where she helped develop public-private partnerships to advance Obama Administration initiatives.
