Homeschool Hub: Non-PPLD Programs

Do you know of a community program for homeschoolers? Is your group holding an event that is open to all homeschoolers? Do you want to hear about upcoming opportunities for your family in the Colorado Springs area? If you answered “yes!” to any of these questions then this is the place for you! This blog is for homeschool programs, classes, etc. not sponsored by PPLD.

To have something posted contact Carol at cscheer@ppld.org or (719) 531-6333 x2406. She will need all the necessary information two weeks in advance. Be sure to include: what it is, who can attend, when it is (date and time), where it is, and who to contact. If any pertinent information is missing it will not be posted.

National Cybersecurity Center 2018 AFA CyberCamp

What will students do at the NCC’s AFA CyberCamp?

The AFA CyberCamp program is designed to excite students about cybersecurity and STEM pathways. The camp will teach important cyber defense skills through hands-on instruction, and involve them in cyber-related activities that start to build a foundational skillset in technology. Through the camp, students will learn how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats, as well how to harden entire networks running Windows 7 and Ubuntu operating systems.

The NCC’s AFA CyberCamp will culminate in an exciting final team competition that simulates real cybersecurity situations faced by industry professionals and mimics AFA’s CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.

7th to 12th graders brand new to cybersecurity

July 23 - July 27, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily

If you are thinking about homeschooling to start your child’s education, the Cottage School Program (CSP) at The Classical Academy is now accepting 2018-2019 Kindergarten (2 half-days a week) applications!

We are a part-time, homeschool Language Arts-Emphasis Program designed to uphold family instruction, core values and educational direction developed at home. CSP is also a tuition-free public school in D20 that exists to partner with parents in their role as the primary educators for their child’s instruction. We offer a Core Knowledge curriculum (not Common Core), Character Education and Specials (Classical Elements, PE, Art and Music).

Global Village Academy, a leader in language immersion education, is excited to offer our pilot homeschool program in the Fall of 2018-2019.

Classes are open to students in Kindergarten-8th Grade.

Student must attend one full day session, once a week.

Based on student enrollment, the plan is to offer the following languages: Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Korean, Arabic, and American Sign Language.

2018 Whiz Bang Children's Summer Program

The Colorado College Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2018 Whiz Bang Children’s Summer Program for students entering grades 1 through 9 in the fall.

2018 Whiz Bang Dates: July 9 – 20, 2018
8:45 – 11:45 a.m., Monday – Friday

  • New this year: Cybersecurity for incoming 7th through 9th graders, coding for 2nd and 3rd graders, the science of magic for 2nd graders, and much more!
  • Financial assistance is available for children receiving free or reduced lunch at school.
